Some areas in city to be soon declared horn-free zones: Police Commissioner at Phone-in programme

Mangaluru, Nov 11, 2023: City Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal has said nearly 10 to 15 places in Mangaluru, particularly places near Wenlock and other hospitals, schools and residential areas would be declared as horn-free zones.

He was responding to a complaint from a citizen regarding ear deafening horns, while participating in the police phone-in programme at the City Police Commissioner’s office on Saturday.

On a pilot basis, the Ladygoschen hospital area has been a horn-free zone and it has got good response, he said.

A citizen complained to the Commissioner that some buses do not halt near bus stops. Responding to this the Commissioner directed that action be taken against such buses.
The Commissioner also assured to look into the complaint that autorickshaw drivers at Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction stations were charging higher rates than pre-paid fares.

Citizens also complained about various other issues including parking issues. The Commissioner also said a drive would be launched to free footpaths of encroachment for the safe movement of pedestrians.

DCPs Siddarth Goel, Dinesh Kumar, ACPs Parameshwar Hegde, Mahesh Kumar and others were present.
