SDPI allegedly involved in Hindu girl–Muslim youth elopement case; Father alleges ‘Love Jihad’

Mangaluru, February 13, 2026: The father of a Hindu girl from Surathkal has alleged that the case involving his daughter eloping with a Muslim youth is an instance of “love jihad” and claimed that the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) is involved.

The girl’s father, Vishwanath, alleged that his daughter Vaishali had fallen victim to “love jihad” and that the organization had a role in the incident. He claimed that the youth who eloped with her, Mohammed Midlaj, was reportedly active in SDPI.

It is also alleged that the owner of Atlantic Jewellers, where Midlaj was employed, is a leader of SDPI. According to the complaint, several individuals who came to the Wayanad police station in support of Midlaj were also said to be associated with the same organization.

Vishwanath said he is not certain whether his daughter was subjected to any substance abuse or brainwashing. However, he demanded that she be brought back home safely and called for a thorough police investigation into the matter.
