Mangalore, April 11: Sri Ramotsava Samiti, in association with Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal observed Sri Ramotsava in a grand manner at the Nehru Maidan on Monday, April 11.
Mayor Praveen Anchan inaugurated the Utsav and Narendra Nath Yogishwareshwara Swamiji blessed the occasion. After lighting of the lamp and flag hoisting, a Homa ritual was also conducted under the guidance of Vedic scholar Giridhar Bhat.
Sri Ramotsav will be concluded with symbolic burning of a 60-feet tall effigy of demon king Ravana, created by artisans from Kolkata, on April 13.
The specialty of the event this year is that all festivities and rituals will be held in a specially-erected palace for Lord Ram.
The main objective of Utsava is to urge to build a mighty Rama Mandir at Ayodhya depicting national culture. The Utsva which also marks the birthday of Shri Ram is aimed at instilling and enhancing his devotion among the people.
‘Srinivas Kalyanothsava’ will be held on April 13 for seeking blessings of Lord Venkatesh.
Sports and cultural programmes will also be conducted on this auspicious occasion.
