Udupi, Feb 14, 2026: Police have arrested two persons in connection with a property tax fraud involving the alleged misuse of a seal of Union Bank of India.
A special police team was constituted to track down the accused and recover materials linked to the offence. On February 12, the team apprehended the suspects near a Union Bank branch in the Rajangana area of Udupi.
The accused have been identified as Supesh (25) of Badagubettu, Kasturba Nagar, and Shantha (43) of Moodu Alevoor, Kunthala Nagar, both in Udupi. During interrogation, and based on their voluntary statements, police recovered the seal allegedly used in the fraud along with related documents.
Further legal proceedings are underway.
The operation was conducted under the direction of Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, with guidance from Additional Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Nayak and Deputy Superintendent of Police Belliyappa.
The investigation was led by Udupi Town Police Station Inspector-in-Charge Mahesh Prasad P, assisted by Sub-Inspector Gangappa S and staff members Surendra D, Santosh Rathod, Netravathi, Pavithra, and Spoorthi.
