Mangalore, April 11: Mercury levels plummeted when rains lashed against the twin districts to the accompaniment of thunder and lightening on the afternoon of Sunday.

Kundapur witnessed heavy rains with lightening and thunder. Places such as Haladi, Jannadi, Hallihole, Kundaput Town, Siddapura, Tekkatte, Kedur, Goliangadi, Amasebail, Amparu, Hosangadi, Gangolli, Neralakatte, and others witnessed rainfall for nearly one hour on Sunday. There was moderate rainfall in Karkala, Hebri, Ajekar too.

Raindrops fell on the annual Chendu Jatre in Polali. Vittal and its surroundings witnessed rains, thunder, and lightening.

Belthangady witnessed cloudy atmosphere from 3:00 p.m., and by 5:00 p.m., places such as Naravi, Venur, Aladangady and others witnessed rains, thunder, and lightening.

Puttur usually sees rains at the annual festival of Shri Mahalingeshwara, especially after the flag is hoisted on the temple post. Puttur usually has rains every year between April 10 and April 19.

Several places in Sullia witnessed light rainfall with plenty of thunder and lightening.
