Puttur road accident: Injured woman dies after long battle

Puttur, Oct 8, 2025: A woman who was critically injured in a road accident near Mura in Puttur taluk a few months ago has succumbed to her injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Apoorva K. Bhat (32), a resident of Kedila. She passed away on Tuesday night after battling for life for 134 days at a hospital in Mangaluru.
The accident occurred on May 27 near the Mura junction on the Mani–Mysuru highway. Apoorva was travelling home from Puttur town with her father, Eshwar Bhat, when their car was hit by a speeding private bus heading towards Mangaluru. The impact was so severe that the car was thrown several meters away and was completely mangled.
Apoorva, her father, and her young daughter sustained injuries in the crash. While her father and daughter later recovered, Apoorva remained in critical condition and, despite prolonged treatment, could not survive.
