Mangalore, Sep 27, 2011: District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar inaugurated Adhar identity cards at Press Club on September 2 Tuesday. Adhar cards will be available at Press Club for 2 days with MCC Revenue Officer B. Vasudev Shetty monitoring, and media representatives can register for the same and obtain them.
In his address, Palemar said that common people are least bothered about identity cards, owing to which this opportunity is being provided to media people.
Stating that people in rural areas are still not aware of identity cards, he said that the number of ration cards issued today far exceed the country’s population and that issue of Adhar identity cards will curb such illegal supply of ration cards.
Mahadev Swamy of Glow Dine, who takes finger prints and scans photos, has arrived from Mysore. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he will be happy to work with the media and create awareness.
