Mangaluru, Jun 27, 2026: BJP Dakshina Kannada district president Satish Kumpala on Saturday criticised the Congress government in Karnataka, alleging large-scale corruption in the implementation of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
Addressing a press conference in Mangaluru, Kumpala claimed that the Gruha Lakshmi scheme has been marred by corruption and that the committee responsible for implementing the scheme has failed in its duties.

Referring to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s recent remarks, Kumpala said Shivakumar himself had admitted that the Siddaramaiah-led government was not functioning properly and had stated that he would set things right once he assumed office.
"The Congress government has turned the Gruha Lakshmi scheme into a symbol of corruption in the state," he alleged.
Kumpala further said that more than 50 days had passed since Shivakumar became Chief Minister, yet the cabinet expansion had resulted in only one minister being appointed for three districts.
"Why is there only one minister for three districts? Doesn’t the government have the strength to carry out another cabinet expansion? If it does, the Congress government in the state will face internal turmoil," he said.
He alleged that the D.K. Shivakumar-led government is anti-people and riddled with corruption.
