There are hundreds of fishing boats and trawlers birth here at their own risk of accidents and acute inconveniences. Repeated complaints and memorandums submitted to the port and fisheries departments have fallen on deaf ears. Nobody has ever bothered to look into the Warf and fishing jetties conditions for several years.

The fishing community continues to live with the problems as they have left with any option. Every year numerous accidents take place during loading and unloading goods and necessities. People continue to work with all the sufferings.  Carrying out work in the night hours is worst and accidents are day to day affairs.

Goods and commodities meant for the Lakshadweep is struck at Bunder for want of clearance. Goods and vegetables from Kasargod, Kozikode, Bekal, Dakshina Kannada and various places have piled up in the port without being shipped.
