No takers for 38 shops built by Mangaluru Smart City Limited near Kadri Park

Mangaluru, Sept 17, 2023: The Kadri Park Road enhancement project, undertaken by the Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL), aimed to revitalize the area for tourists by investing Rs 16 crore in essential infrastructure improvements. This initiative was part of the broader Integrated Development of Kadri Park Area project.

Within this project, MSCL constructed 38 stalls along Kadri Park Road. Originally, the plan was to lease all these shops to a single contractor through a competitive tender process. However, despite this decision being made a year ago, only one bidder expressed interest. Consequently, the tender process was temporarily halted.

Initially, the idea of awarding all the shops to one contractor deterred potential participants in the tender process. Due to this lack of competitive interest, MSCL has decided to reevaluate and amend the tender conditions to attract a broader range of bidders.

Arun Prabha KS, the General Manager (Technical) at MSCL, informed that the fresh tenders will be issued soon, incorporating necessary modifications to encourage more participation. He noted that since only one bidder responded during the initial tender process, it could not be accepted in accordance with the established rules. As a corrective measure, they intend to revise the tender conditions to make it more appealing to potential bidders. The new tenders are expected to be published by the end of the upcoming week.
