Mangaluru, Oct 8, 2025: Based on credible information, the Barke Police raided a shop named Aamantrana, located in the Saibeen Complex at Lalbagh, Mangaluru, for illegally storing and selling banned e-cigarettes, various foreign and Indian cigarette brands without authorization, and hookah-related smoking equipment to the public, including youth.
The raid was conducted by Barke Police Inspector Mohan Kottari along with the PSI and staff, resulting in the seizure of e-cigarettes and other related items worth a total of ₹9,72,745.
During the raid, police confiscated:
* 847 e-cigarettes of various brands (estimated value ₹4,43,125)
* 10 packs (412 boxes) and 86 additional packs of Indian and foreign cigarettes (estimated value ₹5,09,120), which did not display the mandatory 85% health warning images on the packaging
* 25 hookah devices of different designs (estimated value ₹20,500)
In total, items worth around ₹9,72,745 were seized.
A case has been registered at the Barke Police Station against Santosh from Bantwal, Ibrahim Irshad from Kudroli, and Shivu Deshkodi, the owner of the shop. Investigation is underway.
