Mangaluru Police destroy Rs 82 crore worth of seized drugs in major anti-narcotics drive

Mangaluru, July 30, 2026: In a major crackdown on narcotics, the Mangaluru City Police on Wednesday destroyed a huge quantity of seized drugs worth approximately ₹82 crore in a scientific and environmentally friendly manner at the Kolnad Industrial Area in Mulki.

The destroyed contraband had been seized in 59 NDPS cases registered across 16 police stations under the Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate. With the court’s permission, the Drug Disposal Committee oversaw the destruction of 450 kg of ganja and 43.26 kg of MDMA and other narcotic substances, including 37 kg of MDMA valued at around ₹75 crore.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner said that 87 NDPS cases have been registered in the city so far in 2026, leading to the arrest of 157 drug peddlers.

During these operations, police seized narcotics worth ₹8,18,30,130, including 148.615 kg of ganja, 7.165 kg of MDMA, 1.705 kg of hydro weed (high-grade cannabis), and other drugs. In addition, 356 cases were registered against 463 persons for drug consumption during the same period.

Among the drugs destroyed were:

37 kg of MDMA worth about ₹75 crore, seized in a 2024 case registered at Mangaluru East Police Station.
Around 4 kg of MDMA worth approximately ₹4.47 crore, seized in a 2025 case registered at Mulki Police Station.
106 kg of ganja worth about ₹20 lakh, seized by Konaje Police Station.
111 kg of ganja worth about ₹36 lakh, seized by Moodbidri Police Station.

The Police Commissioner appealed to the public to report any information related to narcotics through the QR code created by the police department or by contacting the Police Control Room at 112 or 9480802321, urging citizens to actively support the fight against drugs.
