Mangalore: Family robbed of gold, cash on busy road

Mangalore, Mar 24, 2013: In a shocking incident, some tricksters have managed to rob a family of gold and cash by diverting their attention on the busy Kankanady area on March 23, Saturday evening.

 

The incident took place near the Euro Gold Jewellery. Roshan and Belvira D’Souza from Kuttar had been to the city with their children for shopping and had parked their car near the jewellery store. In the meantime, leaving behind his wife and children, Roshan had been to a nearby shop to buy a vehicle spare part.

It was at this point of time that a man who might have possibly noticed the movements of the family told Belvira that some currency notes belonging to them had fallen close by the car. As Belvira stepped out to find the currency notes, the stranger had opened the car door and had escaped with a bag on the seat. It is learnt, the bag had gold worth Rs 2 lakhs, cash, two ATM cards and a driving licence.

A large crowd gathered at the spot on coming to know of the incident. Kuttar police have registered a case.
