Vijsy Prakash.jpgMangalore, July 3: K. N. Vijayaprakash, the commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), said that strict disciplinary action will be initiated against the two MCC employees at its Suratkal office who were caught red-handed by the Lokayukta when they were accepting bribes.

The guilty employees are Lakshminarayana, the office superintendent, and Ramu, the second division clerk, who demanded bribes for changing an ownership of land title deed. Acting on a complaint from tax consultant Prabhananda Shenoy, the Lokayukta police under the leadership of Police Inspector Uday Naik set a trap for the employees, caught them red-handed, and confiscated the Rs. 2,500, which they had just received as bribe.

The commissioner confirmed that action will be taken as soon as the MCC receives the official  report on the incident from the Lokayukta police; but did not speak about the nature of the action that would be taken.

Mr. Shenoy had submitted an application to change the ownership of four land title deeds 8 months ago. The employees said that they would do the work only if he paid them Rs. 6,000, after which Mr. Shenoy approached the Lokayukta police. He paid them Rs 2,500 on Thursday and helped the police trap them.
