MCC continues demolition drive against illegal structure

Mangalore, Jul 22:  The demolition drive of Mangalore City Corporation has continued on Thursday, July 22. Today morning, the officials along with bulldozer have come to Jail road, near Canara College to pull down a petty shop located on the footpath. As the tea shop was constructed illegally on the footpath said an official.

 

 

 

 

 

Earlier the same officials of MCC demolished illegally extended portions of two buildings and a petty shop in Mangalore on July 21, Wednesday.

The petty shop, which was located in Kankanady, was razed because it was constructed without a license. Similarly, an illegally extended part of Gasco Shop, located near Divya Deepa Arcade at Bendoor, and an illegally constructed interlock before Juice Junction at Jyothi was also razed.

 

 

 

The MCC claims that the owners of these establishments had repeatedly ignored notices issued by the civic body, adding that the MCC had informed them a day in advance that the demolition will take place. An MCC official said that these structures were constructed in violation of building norms and the MCC had to demolish them.

The shop owners, however, complain that the civic body had not sent them any official notice prior to demolition.
