Kundapur: Bike catches fire after collision with bus; rider killed

Kundapur, June 17, 2025: In a tragic accident on Monday afternoon, a 25-year-old biker, Sharath from Sigandur, lost his life after his motorcycle collided with a private bus near the Mallari curve close to Kenchanur on the Hemmadi–Kollur main road.

The private bus was en route from Hemmadi to Kollur when the speeding bike rammed into it. Sharath suffered critical injuries to his head and left leg after falling onto the road. Though he was rushed to the Kundapur Government Hospital by ambulance, doctors declared him brought dead.

The impact of the collision caused petrol from the Duke bike to spill onto its radiator, igniting a fire that completely gutted the vehicle.

Shankaranarayana Circle Inspector Jayaram D Gowda and Kundapur Traffic SI Prasad Kumar visited the spot. A case has been registered at the Kundapur traffic police station.
