Subrahmanya, May 11, 2026: Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, one of the prominent temples under the Karnataka Muzrai Department, has recorded an annual income of Rs 167.89 crore during the financial year 2025-26, retaining its position as the state’s top-earning Muzrai temple for the 15th consecutive year.

According to temple authorities, the temple generated a total income of Rs 167,89,09,080.77 between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026, while expenditure during the same period stood at Rs 85,20,14,531.42.

In the previous financial year 2024-25, the temple had recorded an income of Rs 155.95 crore. This year, the revenue increased by nearly Rs 12 crore.

Temple officials said major sources of income included seva offerings, special donations, hundi collections, interest from investments, rents from buildings and choultries, and agricultural estates.

Major sources of revenue

The temple earned Rs 64.08 crore through seva offerings, while hundi collections amounted to Rs 24.69 crore. Donations contributed Rs 5.47 crore and e-hundi collections stood at Rs 38.01 lakh.

Interest from investments generated Rs 49.11 crore, while savings account and other interest earnings amounted to Rs 41.80 lakh. Sweep transaction interest added another Rs 12.90 lakh.

The temple also received Rs 2.53 crore through contracts, Rs 94.46 lakh from rentals of buildings and shops, and Rs 10.50 lakh from agricultural and plantation products.

Other major income sources included Rs 6.93 crore from choultry maintenance contributions, Rs 9.14 crore from annasantarpane funds, Rs 3.20 crore from miscellaneous accounts, Rs 56.70 lakh from permanent seva capital funds, and Rs 14.17 lakh from development funds.

Steady growth over the years

The temple’s annual income has witnessed remarkable growth over the past two decades. It recorded an income of Rs 19.76 crore in 2006-07, which increased to Rs 24.44 crore in 2007-08 and Rs 31 crore in 2008-09.

The revenue further rose to Rs 38.51 crore in 2009-10, Rs 56.24 crore in 2011-12, Rs 66.76 crore in 2012-13, Rs 68 crore in 2013-14, and Rs 77.60 crore in 2014-15.

Subsequent years saw continued growth with Rs 88.83 crore in 2015-16, Rs 89.65 crore in 2016-17, Rs 95.92 crore in 2017-18, Rs 92.09 crore in 2018-19, and Rs 98.92 crore in 2019-20.

The temple’s income dipped to Rs 68.94 crore during 2020-21 due to the pandemic period, but recovered steadily with Rs 72.73 crore in 2021-22, Rs 123.64 crore in 2022-23, Rs 146.01 crore in 2023-24, Rs 155.95 crore in 2024-25, and now Rs 167.89 crore in 2025-26.
