Kasaragod, Feb 22, 2026: A father was killed and his son sustained critical injuries in a tragic road accident involving a KSRTC bus and a car at Nellikkatte in Badiadka on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Shamshuddeen, a resident of Nellikkatte. His 22-year-old son, Salman Harris, was seriously injured and has been admitted to a private hospital in Kasaragod for advanced treatment.
The accident occurred at around 6 am on Saturday, February 21. Shamshuddeen was travelling with his son to the Kasaragod railway station when their car reportedly collided head-on with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus that was heading towards Puttur.
The impact of the collision was severe, completely crushing the car. Locals and rescue personnel rushed the father and son to the hospital, but Shamshuddeen succumbed to his injuries despite medical efforts. Salman Harris is said to be in critical condition.
The accident took place under the jurisdiction of the Badiadka Police Station. Police officials visited the spot and conducted an inspection. An investigation is underway to determine whether overspeeding or road conditions led to the mishap.
