KASARAGOD, October 1, 2025: In a tragic incident on Tuesday, Ranjitha Kumari (30), a prominent DYFI leader and young advocate, was found deceased in her office in Batheri, Kumble. Police reports indicate she died by suicide.
Concerned after being unable to reach her, family members went to her office and found the door locked from the inside. They alerted the police, who forced entry and discovered Kumari’s body.
An active local leader, Kumari held several positions, including president of the DYFI women’s association area committee and block unit treasurer. She was widely seen as a strong and promising figure within the CPI(M). Police have recovered a note from the scene, the contents of which have not been disclosed.
The news of her death has sent shockwaves through the community and her political associates. She is survived by her husband and child.
