Mangalore, Aug 13: “The entire world is looking up to India and the exceptionally talented indian engineers” reminded Chief Minister, B. S. Yeddyurappa in his address at the Golden Jubilee Valedictory Ceremony of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NIT-K), Suratkal held at the Silver Jubilee Auditorium of NITK on Aug 13, Friday. He was speaking on opportunities awaiting for the engineering graduate of NITK. He also inaugurated the Mega Hostel Complex for boys and garlanded the statue of late Mr. Shrinivas Mallya.


The CM urged the students to contribute to the country’s development because they have received the best education. Declaring that the state is proud of NIT-K, the CM said that the state has ample opportunities for its students, who must devote themselves to the development of the state.

Dr. V. S. Acharya, the home minister, released the special India Post cover bearing a picture of the main building of NIT-K. Stating that Karnataka has the most proficient educational institutions, he said that the CM has sanctioned funds for the establishment of Research and Development Institution at Muddenahalli, which is estimated to cost Rs. 75 crore. He also expressed his appreciation of the faculty members of NIT-K for shaping the students’ future.

District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar said that NIT-K has become famous all over the state and has given 50 students who have contributed a lot for the development of society. He requested the students to plant saplings and make the environment green and urged the institution to provide quality education to the students.

Director of NIT-K Prof. Sandeep Sancheti welcomed the gathering; Babu Naidu was the comperer; and Convener of the Organizing Committee Prof. Lakshman Nandagiri proposed the vote of thanks.
