Kadri Police arrest escaped under-trial Rafiq

Mangalore, April 11, 2011: The Kadri Police have arrested Mohammed Rafiq alias Kalia Rafiq of Bappayithota in Uppala who escaped from the KSRTC bus stand recently.

A few days ago, he was being taken to the Hosadurga Court in Kasargod along with his accomplice Riyaz of Pariyatadka, but the duo escaped while they were waiting for the bus at the KSRTC bus stand.

 

The following day, the Scorpio the escaped prisoners were travelling in turned turtle near Naykapi and hit an autorickshaw. The four people travelling in the autorickshaw were severely injured. Those in the Scorpio were caught by the local people and handed over to the police, but Rafiq still managed to escape.

Rafiq later took treatment at a hospital in Puttur; however, when the police arrived at the Puttur hospital, he fled. He then disguised himself and got admitted to a private hospital in Mangalore, where he was arrested.

Rafiq stands accused in several cases of theft and is known for his abilities to escape from the police.
