Give the JD(S) a chance, urges Kumaraswamy

Mangalore, January 23, 2012 : Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a JD(S) convention held at Kuppepadavu on the afternoon of Sunday, H. D. Kumaraswamy, the leader of the JD (S) party, urged the youth of coastal Karnataka to give his party a chance.

 

 

 

 

 

The former chief minister urged people to elect JD (S) candidates as MLAs and then see the difference.

Stating that the people have given ample opportunities to the Congress and the BJP, which have both failed to provide good governance to the people, he said that the Congress and the BJP aim at dividing society on the basis of religion. He said that, while the BJP projects itself as the savior of Hindus, the Congress projects itself as the savior of Muslims and Christians, both parties are bothered only about building their vote banks.

Stating that he had made a number of pro-people decisions during his 20-month-long term as the chief minister of Karnataka, he said that one of his achievements was banning the lottery.

On the side lines of the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Kumaraswamy told reporters that the JD (S) will contest independently for the Udupi – Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency elections. Stating that the party will soon announce the name of a suitable candidate, he said that the JD (S) has not yet decided if the candidate ought to be from Chikmagalur or Udupi.

In response to a reporter’s query, he said that he has no objections to the decistion of the Karnataka High Court to investigate certain allegations levelled against him and S. M. Krishna, the external affairs minister, in connection with illegal mining.
