Mangaluru, Nov 15, 2025: Just four days before the election was announced, ₹10,000 was deposited into the bank accounts of women. The NDA used government money to buy votes, and the Election Commission allowed it, alleged Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
Speaking about discussions linking the Bihar election results to a “November Revolution,” he said there is no connection between the two. “The so-called November Revolution came out of nowhere; it has no basis. The Bihar elections have nothing to do with Karnataka’s politics. Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge closely monitored the Bihar elections. We all saw how the Election Commission acted in favour of the BJP,” he said.

He further questioned, “If everyone starts doing this, what kind of elections will we have? Just before polls, schemes are announced. If ₹10,000, ₹20,000, or ₹30,000 is given away, how can we call it a fair election? Why did the Election Commission not take action? They coordinated the election dates with these announcements. The Election Commission itself aided vote-buying. What morality is left if political parties misuse public money like this? The central government and the BJP have used every weapon available.”
Gundu Rao also admitted that the Congress shares responsibility for the defeat. “We must not blame others for our loss. There were issues within the Mahagathbandhan, confusion in seat-sharing, and problems in announcing the CM candidate. We must introspect. The central leadership will look into it. We must accept this defeat and accept that the people rejected us,” he said.
He also alleged misuse of government machinery and institutions. “Special facilities were arranged, and trains were sent from neighbouring states to Bihar. If such things happen, what are we supposed to say?” Gundu Rao remarked.
