Mangalore, Jan 19, 2012: Vismaya Foundation, founded by Kudroli Ganesh in a bid to promote magic, was inaugurated at Town Hall on Jan 18 Wednesday by Dr. Mohan Alva, the chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation.
The uniqueness of the inauguration ceremony lay in the fact that it was packed with magic. Dr. Alva produced the inaugural lamp and the logo of the new foundation from an empty box.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Alva expressed his praise of Kudroli Ganesh’s talents and his power to mesmerize his audience with his magic shows. He also spoke at length on his unique way of illustrating the local culture through his magic tricks.
Presiding over the event, B. Ramanath Rai, the MLA of Bantwal, spoke of his personal experiences with the magician.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Chinnappa Gowda, the registrar of Mangalore University, expressed his appreciation of Kudroli Ganesh for keeping cultural traditions alive through his splendid magic shows.
Sharing his experiences, Kudroli Ganesh spoke about those early days in his career when he created a small team of magicians who used to perform tricks as a hobby. He said that the purpose of establishing the foundation was to identify talents across India. Lamenting that India was still lagging behind in the art of magic, he said that he would like to train budding magicians and help them build their magic careers.
A magic show, in which not only Kudroli Ganesh, but also a few children presented tricks, formed the highlight of the event.
