In the first phase of ‘SVEEP’, voters must register their names in the voters list, while in the second phase, the district administration will hold programmes in every taluk and Zilla Panchayat level to enlighten the masses on the importance of exercising their franchise. In the third phase, the administration will guide voters on the day of election.

The district administration will also set up a Voter Facilitation Centers (VFC) which helps the voters to clarify the doubts on the issues relating to  Electoral roll including additions, deletions, modifications and transpositions and EPIC cards. These VFCs will function only on Saturdays and Sundays during the Revision period, the DC said.

It is statutory right of citizens to get enrolled in the voter list. Hence the voters can check the electoral roll of their area at ERO/AERO/Ward office. If their names are not included, then  voters must fill the Form 6 and deposit it with the ERO.

ZP CEO Dr N Vijayaprakash said that the Election Commission has made voter identification mandatory during the time of poll. The electors have to identify themselves with either Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued by the Commission or any other documentary proof as prescribed by the Commission such as passport, Pass book, driving license or any Govt. document to facilitate the work of registration.

He also said that the SVEEP will be implemented to create awareness among the voters particularly in women to cast their votes. Officers will be appointed at TP and ZP level to guide the voters. The administration will also erect hoardings and banners with awareness messages in all educational institutions, government hospitals, malls, and government offices.

Voters can submit applications online, by visiting www.voterreg.kar.nic.in and voters can log on to www.ceokarnataka.kar.nic.in., to check their names in the voters list or for any corrections.

Later, DC inaugurated an awareness chariot to eradicate Child Labour and make the district free from child labour.

Mangalore City Commissioner Harish Kumar and Additional DC K Dayanand were present at the press meet.
