Derik’s Chess School students perform splendidly in chess championships

Mangalore, Nov 11, 2011: The students of Derik’s Chess School have performed well in the Under 8, Under 12, and Under 16 Boys and Girls Chess Championship held by the Chess Association of India at Yash Lawns, Pune, Maharashtra recently. The students have won 1 gold, 3 silver, and 1 bronze medals.

Prerna Rai scored 7 points in 7 rounds to win the first place while Reesha Shenoy scored 6 points and emerged as the runner up in the Under 12 Girls Category. Arjun Adappa scored 6 points in 7 rounds to emerge as the runner up in the Under 12 Boys Category.

Mahima Khadige is the runner up of the Under 16 Girls Category and Ishani Rai got the third position in the Under 8 Girls Category.


Poorvi Adappa got 5 points and the fourth place in the Under 8 Girls Category while B. Akhila scored 4 points and the eight place in the same.


Sanjay D. Kulal, Ramik R. Kumarand, and Shanmuga B. won the fifth, sixth, and eighth positions respectively in the Under 8 Boys Category.


Dhrikshu Vasanth and Akhil R. M. won the eighth and tenth positions respectively in the Under 12 Boys Category.


Athul Shetty got the tenth place in the Under 16 Boys Category while Sanchitha Kamath won the tenth place in the Under 16 Girls Category.
