The shrine of Vishnumurthy and Rakteshwari are located close to the CM’s ancestral house, called Taravadu House, in Devaragunda in Mandekolu. A large number of relatives and family members participate in the annual kola, but this year, a number of policemen and security guards were also present. Besides, a large number of reporters, policians, and government officers also flocked to the place.

Security had been especially beefed up for the CMs visit. He landed at Sullia helipad, after which he got into a bullet-proof Ambassador car and made his way to Devaragunda along with a number of police escort cars. He was greeted by his wife Datty and son Kartik, who had arrived on the previous day, and his brothers. The annual Kola had already begun when the CM arrived. DVS greeted everybody and then went to offer worship to the family dieties.

Since Devaragunda is located along the border between Kerala and Karnataka, the rituals were performed as per the traditions of Kerala. The CM himself speaks excellent Malayalam.

This time, he answered reporters’ queries near the shrine and ensured that proper arrangements had been made for dignitaries and media persons. He also received a number of memorandums and appeals from the people who had gathered there.

The annual family event ended with a community meal, after which the CM made preparations to leave. He got into the helicopter to Udupi at 4:30 p.m., where he is scheduled to participate in the Paryaya Festival.
