Chikkamagaluru, January 24, 2026: Two lorries overturned at Charmadi Ghat, which connects Chikkamagaluru and Dakshina Kannada, on Wednesday evening, leading to a major traffic jam on National Highway 173.

The incident occurred at a curve in Charmadi Ghat in Mudigere taluk, causing hundreds of vehicles to line up on the road.

Reports said the traffic congestion stretched for over 10 kilometres.

To manage the situation, police have set up barricades at Kottigehara and closed the road. The incident falls under the limits of the Banakal police station.

Lorry removal operations are underway, and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes.
