2012 naxal pamphlet case: Wanted naxal produced before Beltangady court

Belthangady, feb 20, 2026: In connection with a case involving the pasting of Naxal pamphlets, a wanted Naxal identified as John @ Jayanna @ Mahesh (49) was produced before the Belthangady court under tight security by the Kerala Special Police from Thrissur Jail.

The case pertains to an incident in 2012, when pamphlets were pasted in the courtyard of Lingappa Malekudi’s house at Kothluru within the jurisdiction of the Belthangady Police Station. The court had recently ordered a reinvestigation into the case.

Originally a resident of Aroli village in Raichur district, Jayanna had been lodged in a Kerala jail for the past six months. He had recently surrendered before the Chief Minister of the state. Following this, Kerala Police brought him to Belthangady to be produced before the court.
