‘Why now silent on Dharmasthala?’ Priyank Kharge slams BJP

Bengaluru, September 14, 2025: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday hit out at the BJP for “forgetting” Dharmasthala after its recent agitation over the Soujanya case, and demanded that the party clarify its stand.

In a post on X, Kharge said the BJP’s concern for religion and justice “lasted only four days” and accused its leaders of remaining silent on fresh revelations by Soujanya’s relative Vittal Gowda. “He has said that Bangle Gudda at Dharmasthala is strewn with skeletal remains and resembles a battlefield. Why are BJP leaders silent about this?” he asked.

The minister further questioned whether the BJP supported Soujanya’s family or those the family has accused. His remarks came in the backdrop of BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra’s visit to Soujanya’s house on September 1, following the party’s ‘Dharmasthala Chalo’ protest.
