Haryana, Nov 27, 2025: Haryana has made history with the sale of a car registration number that broke all records in India. The plate HR88B8888 fetched an astonishing Rs 1.17 crore in the state’s VIP vehicle number auction, becoming the most expensive car number ever sold in the country. The online bidding, held on Haryana’s official VIP number portal, closed on Wednesday evening after hours of intense competition. By midday, the bids had already crossed Rs 88 lakh before finally reaching the record figure.
So, why has this become the country’s most expensive number plate? Are there numerology or astrology reasons behind its value? Let’s also explore how Haryana’s number plate auctions operate and check out other plates that have broken records in the past.
Why Is It India’s Costliest Number Plate?
The number HR88B8888 is a special vehicle registration plate with multiple meanings. Because the letter B looks like an 8, the whole sequence seems like a continuous line of eighths. HR shows that the vehicle is registered in Haryana, while 88 is the code for the specific Regional Transport Office (RTO) in the state. The letter B represents the series issued by that RTO and 8888 is the unique four digit registration number.
Any Numerological Or Astrological Reasons?
In numerology, the number 88 is highly valued, as it’s connected to abundance and prosperity. It’s seen as a symbol of constant good fortune, not just in money, but also in spiritual growth. The double 8 highlights the idea of karma, that every action has a reaction. It reminds people that balance in life is important and what we give to others often comes back to us. In a way, it’s like the universe keeping track and rewarding positive energy.
