Mangaluru, Nov 03, 2023: Following the detection of the dangerous Zika virus in mosquitoes in Chikkaballapur, the Health Department in Dakshina Kannada district has decided not to take chances and will take all necessary precautionary measures.
In case of any suspected case of Zika virus the respective primary health centres have been asked to immediately inform the District Vector Borne Diseases Control Office.
As the symptoms of Zika virus infection are the same as that of Dengue, the Health Department has decided to opt for fogging, spraying of repellants etc. In Mangaluru City Corporation limits there are 393 active Dengue cases as of now.
Health officials informed that those affected by Zika virus will have symptoms of red eye, head ache, fever, itching, joint pain etc. The symptoms grow between two to seven days and people have been asked to be cautious.
