CJP threatens nationwide protest from Oct 2 if CEC Gyanesh Kumar does not resign

New Delhi, Sep 25, 2026: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday said it would launch a nationwide protest from Mumbai on October 2 if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign by Saturday, September 26.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced the plan in a post on X, saying the protest would begin in Mumbai on Gandhi Jayanti and subsequently spread to cities across the country.

The announcement came a day after Dipke demanded Kumar’s resignation and threatened a fresh agitation, which he referred to as “Jantar Mantar 2.0”, if his demand was not met.

The CJP’s demand comes amid a reported internal disagreement within the Election Commission. The Indian Express reported on September 23 that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had formally recorded objections at least 14 times over 10 months to decisions concerning electoral-roll management, including voter registration and deletion, changes to Form 6 and access to the voter database.

However, Election Commission sources have said that decisions, including those related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), had the approval of all three Election Commissioners.
