FDA launches inspection at KMF dairies across 22 districts

Mangaluru/ Mandya, Sep 26, 2026: The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted simultaneous inspections at 16 milk unions of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) on Friday following the recent Manmul skimmed milk powder adulteration case.

The FDA launched inspections at KMF dairies and other food establishments across 22 districts in the state. The inspections were carried out on the directions of Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader, following which the FDA formed 23 special teams.

The inspections were conducted in Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru South, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Tumakuru, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Shivamogga, Davangere, Dharwad, Belagavi, Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Koppala, Ballari, Raichur and Bidar districts.

The FDA Commissioner has directed officials to collect two samples from each location and send them for testing.

Meanwhile, police have already arrested five people in connection with the Manmul milk powder adulteration case.

On August 28, Upalokayukta-II Justice B. Veerappa visited the Manmul Union at Gejjalagere in Maddur taluk of Mandya district and took up a suo motu case against six officers and workers. He directed the officials to submit their objections, if any, in person on October 27.

Further action will be based on the inspection and laboratory test results.
