Mangaluru: Kadri Gopalanath’s saxophone replica stolen from Mallikatta Park

Mangaluru, Sep 26, 2026: A replica of the saxophone belonging to renowned saxophonist Kadri Gopalanath, installed at Mallikatta Park in the city as a tribute to the late musician, has reportedly been stolen.

Mallikatta Park was developed a few years ago at a cost of around Rs 75 lakh. As part of the development, a memorial pedestal was created in honour of Kadri Gopalanath, with a saxophone replica placed inside a glass enclosure. The installation had become a major attraction for visitors to the park.

However, the park has reportedly fallen into neglect in recent years due to a lack of funds for maintenance. The saxophone replica is believed to have been stolen about a week ago.

Local corporator Kadri Manohar Shetty informed the Kadri police about the theft. Police have launched an investigation to trace those responsible, but no breakthrough has been reported so far.
