Mangaluru, Sep 26, 2026: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH has cautioned people seeking employment abroad against falling victim to fraudulent agents who promise overseas jobs and visas.

In a video message shared on the Mangaluru City Police’s social media handle, the Commissioner said several people aspiring to work abroad and earn better incomes are being cheated after paying large sums to fake agents.

He advised job seekers to approach only recruiting agencies registered with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and verify their credentials before making any payments.

“There are around 25 to 30 registered recruiting agents. People should approach only agencies registered with the MEA and verify their credentials before paying any money,” he said.

The Commissioner noted that people often approach the police only after losing their money. By then, recovering the amount can be difficult even after a case is registered and the accused are arrested.

He urged those planning to work abroad to exercise caution, verify the credentials of recruiting agencies and carefully check the terms before entering into any agreement or making payments.

Job seekers can verify the list of recruiting agents registered with the MEA through the official eMigrate portal at emigrate.gov.in, he said.
