Youth who came with friends to Sasihitlu beach to pick clams, feared drowned

Mangaluru, May 14, 2024: A youth named Abhilash (24) from Bajpe Adyapady who had been to the Sasihitlu Munda beach along with his friends to catch crabs and pick clams, has been feared drowned.
A total of nine friends had come to the place and had walked for 2 kms towards the middle of the river as the water level was low.
However as they neared the estuary, two youth Dhanush and Jeevan who did not know to swim began to drown when Abhilash rushed to their rescue but he too eventually drowned and went missing.
Though all other youth in the team were rescued by locals, Abhilash was not found. Search is underway.
