Subrahmanya, Aug 19, 2026: South Western Railway General Manager P. Ananth on Tuesday inspected the trial run of a Vande Bharat train on the Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road railway section and reviewed the progress of infrastructure and passenger amenity projects along the route.
The section, which traverses the ecologically sensitive Western Ghats, is considered one of the most challenging railway stretches in the region due to its steep gradients, numerous tunnels, bridges and sharp curves. During the visit, Ananth assessed operational and safety parameters related to the Vande Bharat trial run and examined the preparedness of railway infrastructure on the route.
He also inspected redevelopment works underway at Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Railway officials briefed him on the status of station modernisation, passenger amenities, platform upgrades, surrounding area development and other ongoing projects.
Ananth instructed officials to ensure timely completion of all works while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and passenger convenience. He stressed the need for regular monitoring and effective coordination among departments to avoid delays.
Mysuru Division Divisional Railway Manager Mudit Mittal and other senior railway officials accompanied the General Manager during the inspection. They apprised him of the progress of various projects and the operational requirements of the section.
