Amazon franchise fraud: Man loses Rs 4.20 lakh in Udupi

Manipal, Aug 19, 2026: A case has been registered at the Manipal police station after a man was allegedly cheated of ₹4.20 lakh by fraudsters who promised to set up an Amazon online hub franchise in Udupi.

The complainant, Ravichandra, 48, of Nalkur village, was contacted by a person identified as M. Sai Krishna on June 29. He allegedly promised to arrange an Amazon online hub franchise for Ravichandra at Baliga Complex on the Udupi-Manipal-Alevoor Road.


Fraud

Sai Krishna reportedly told him that only the registration had to be completed online initially and that a field officer from the company would visit the location to execute an agreement and complete the area PIN code locking process.

Later, M. Sai Krishna, M. Guruswamy, Suresh Kumar, Raj Kumar and Mahesh, claiming to be field officers, allegedly promised to set up a delivery hub franchise in Udupi-Manipal. They reportedly collected ₹4.20 lakh from Ravichandra in instalments and cheated him.

Based on his complaint, Manipal police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
