Mangaluru, January 27, 2026: Several antique automobiles owned by residents of Dakshina Kannada drew considerable attention at the Vintage Vehicle Show held to mark Republic Day at Nehru Maidan in Mangaluru on Monday.
The oldest vehicle on display was a 1929 Ford owned by Krishnappa Uchil, who also showcased his 1947 Ford Jeep. Among the other notable exhibits was a 1949 Cadillac belonging to A. Kishore Rao. He also displayed his prized collection that included a 1948 Rolls-Royce, a 1948 Bentley and a 1991 Fiat.

The show also featured Canara Bus Owners Association President Rajaverma Ballal’s 1952 Chevrolet Deluxe, noted physician Hansraj Alva’s 1960s Standard Herald, M. Akshatha’s 1957 Landmaster, Tejas Kumar Shetty’s 1970s Mercedes-Benz, Raghavendra Prabhu’s 1962 Ambassador, Sunil Gonsalves’s 1961 German-made Beetle, and a 1965 Willys Jeep.
Vintage two-wheelers were another major attraction. The exhibits included a Bajaj LML scooter, RX 100 motorcycle and Bajaj Sunny scooter owned by Godwin Kariappa; Keith Salin’s 1995 Yezdi Road King; Birosh Sebastian’s 1996 Jawa and 1995 Yezdi Road King; Dinesh Acharya’s 1986 Yamaha RX 100; and Pratham Raj’s 1964 Royal Enfield Bullet.
District in-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy and several other dignitaries were present at the event.
