Mangalore, July 25, 2011 : Mangalore-born Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo has been appointed by the Vatican as the national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies for India with effect from September 1.
Currently, Fr. Lobo is the public relations officer for the Church of Karnataka as represented by the Karnataka Region Catholic Bishops’ Council (KRCBC) and also the coordinator for the 17 commissions of the KRCBC. The priest is also the member of the Christian Community Development Council, a new body that monitors and sanctions funds for the Christian community in Karnataka.
About Fr. Lobo
Fr. Lobo, who was born on April 22, 1963 at Thumbe in Bantwal, was ordained priest in 1990 at Milagres Church, Mangalore.
He has served in a number of capacities such as director of Bhalki Mission in Bidar and assistant parish priest of Our Lady of Dolours Church in Vittal and in St. Joseph’s Church Pezar.
Fr. Lobo will now assist missions at the national level and will monitor all the projects proposed and sanctioned by the congregation.
