Mangaluru, May 3, 2026: Two separate road accidents at Haleangadi junction in Mulki on Friday evening led to heavy traffic congestion on the national highway for more than 30 minutes.
In the first incident, a chemical tanker travelling from Mangaluru towards Ballari reportedly applied sudden brakes near the junction due to barricades placed on the road. A car carrying a family from Kasargod to Kollur temple rammed into the rear of the tanker. Though the front portion of the car was damaged, all the occupants escaped unhurt.

In another incident shortly after, a car proceeding from Mangaluru towards Udupi was hit from behind by a tanker while taking a turn near the divider, damaging the right side of the vehicle.
The back-to-back accidents resulted in severe traffic snarls, with vehicles queued up till Pavanje temple. Traffic congestion was also witnessed on the internal roads of Haleangadi.
Traffic police from Mangaluru visited the spot and restored normal movement after clearing the damaged vehicles from the highway.
