Mangaluru, Oct 18, 2026: Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta on Sunday said ‘Pili Parba’ was an excellent example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi’, helping preserve native culture for future generations.
Inaugurating the day-long Pili Parba, organised by Kudla Samskruthika Prathistana at Nehru Maidan, he said that three years ago, organisers were uncertain whether young people would participate in traditional events such as Pili Parba and Kambala. Today, however, these events attract youth in large numbers.

He noted that Pili Nalike (traditional tiger dance) teams were presenting the art form in a way that appealed to younger generations while retaining its devotion and discipline.
Commending the Prathistana, led by Mangaluru City South MLA D. Vedavyas Kamath, for organising the event for the fifth consecutive year, Chowta said its efforts to encourage Pili Nalike teams and strengthen traditional customs amounted to nation-building.
Kudla Cultural Foundation honorary president Giridhar Shetty, president Divakar Pandeshwar, and members Naresh Shenoy, Lalith Mendon, Kiran Shenoy, Chetan Kamath, Jagadish Kadri, Ashwith Kottari, Naresh Prabhu and Sahan attended the inaugural ceremony.
District BJP general secretary Premanand Shetty, mandal president Ramesh Kandettu, former Mangaluru City Corporation members and others were also present.
