Udupi, Oct 18, 2026: A KSRTC bus travelling from Udupi to Shivamogga got stuck while negotiating a sharp bend on Agumbe Ghat on Sunday, briefly disrupting traffic on the busy ghat road.

With the bus unable to negotiate the turn, passengers were asked to alight to facilitate the manoeuvre. The driver then reversed the vehicle a short distance, allowing it to clear the bend and traffic to resume.

Traffic was heavy due to the Sunday holiday, and a large number of passengers were on board when the incident occurred.

The incident has renewed concerns over the suitability of large buses on the narrow, winding ghat road. Passengers stressed the need for experienced drivers and suggested deploying smaller buses to navigate the steep slopes and sharp bends more safely.
