Canara School Student Jhanvi Mallya Secures First Place in State-Level Chess Championship

Mangaluru, October 18, 2026: Jhanvi Mallya, a Class 7 student of Canara School, Dongerkery, Mangaluru, secured first place in the Karnataka State-Level Under-14 Chess Championship for the academic year 2026–27.

The championship was organised by the Karnataka State Government’s Department of School Education under the aegis of the Koppal Zilla Panchayat and was held at Hirebenakal in Gangavathi from October 15 to 17.


Jhanvi Mallya Chess Champion


With this achievement, Jhanvi has qualified for the national-level chess championship scheduled to be held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in January 2027.

She is the daughter of Prasanna Mallya and Pavithra Mallya.
