Bengaluru, May 2, 2026: Unidentified burglars broke into a jewellery store in Bagalagunte on Wednesday night and fled with valuables worth approximately Rs 1.2 crore, including 70 kg of silver. Police have not yet found any significant leads.

According to the FIR, the shop owner had closed the store around 9:15 pm after securing gold ornaments in a locker, while silver items were left in the display showcase. The shop reportedly lacked adequate night security arrangements.

Jewelery theft

The theft was discovered around 7:30 am the following morning when the building owner noticed damage to the rear wall and alerted the shop owner. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the burglars had first entered a neighbouring godown and then breached the wall to gain access to the jewellery shop.

The accused escaped with 70 kg of silver articles, a DVR system, a laptop, a mobile phone, and Rs 1,500 in cash. Police have registered a case and are analysing CCTV footage from nearby areas as part of the investigation.
