The police commissioner says that the Urwa police arrested 9 people who were playing cricket near Chilimbi Gudde on Oct 26, Tuesday based on a tip off that Dhanraj Poojary, who has been accused of murder and eve teasing, was among the group of gamblers. The arrested are Dhanraj, Yathin, Deepak (24), Nithin (23), Mokshit (24), Ashwin (22), Kishan (22), and Dhanush (26).

Besides arresting Dhanraj Poojary, the police also arrested Dhanraj, a Std X student, at 11:00 a.m. and thrashed him. The students, therefore, complained against police officers for torturing students without getting full information.

The police commissioner assured the protestors that he will investigate the issue.
