Beltangady: Man arrested for hunting wild boar, storing meat

Beltangady, Sep 22, 2026: Forest department officials have arrested a 38-year-old man on charges of hunting a wild boar and storing its processed meat at Mucharali in Neriya village.

The accused has been identified as Suresh M K (38), son of Kukkappa Gowda and a resident of Muchalli House in Neriya village.


Wild boar

During an operation conducted on September 20, forest officials reportedly found evidence that a wild boar had been hunted. A gun, knife and other equipment allegedly used for hunting were seized.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Beltangady Range Forest Officer Mahesh M Devadiga. Neriya Forest Section Deputy Range Forest Officer Ravichandra conducted the investigation and registered a case.

The forest department said the arrested accused was produced before a judge.
