Karnataka man rides bike with five children in metal basket, sparks safety debate

Mysuru, Sep 22, 2026: A video circulating on social media showing a man riding a two-wheeler with six children travelling on the vehicle has sparked concerns over road safety.

In the video, five children can be seen seated inside a metal basket-like structure attached to the rear of the two-wheeler, while another child is seated in front of the rider. The rider was wearing a helmet, but none of the children appeared to be wearing any protective gear.

The video was shared on X by the account Sanatan Kannada, which claimed that the incident was recorded on the Mysuru-Nanjangud Road in Karnataka.

According to the post, the incident allegedly occurred on a busy Sunday along the Ooty main road. The post also identified the vehicle by registration number KA 09 JU 1459 and questioned whether adequate attention was being paid to the safety of the children.

The video has since triggered reactions on social media, with users expressing concern over the risks involved in transporting several children on a two-wheeler in such a manner.

One user commented that putting children’s lives at risk while violating traffic rules was “highly offensive”.

Another user said similar incidents have become common in several Indian cities.
