Bengaluru, July 26, 2023: Eleven Congress MLAs have written to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, apprising him of the problems they were facing at work. They mentioned that they weren’t being about to get any work done or meet the expectations of the people as the ministers were not cooperating.

In a joint letter, Congress MLA from Gulbarga district, BR Patil, along with 10 others, wrote, “We are unable to work as per people’s beliefs. Over 20 ministers are not responding regarding our constituency work.”
Highlighting the fact that the ministers were unapproachable, the MLAs stated that they had to contact a third person to pass on work-related messages.

“Because of this, people’s aspirations are not being met. Ministers send messages via a third person when we need to discuss funds for projects. We are disappointed that even after being local MLAs, we have to approach a third person for our work,” the letter read.

The MLAs also mentioned that their recommendations for the transfer of officials were not being taken seriously. "Our recommendation letters for officials’ transfers are not being considered. No official is listening to us," it noted.

Seeking the chief minister’s help to resolve the matter, MLAs said, "We request you to immediately intervene".

However, Congress MLA BR Patil later denied writing the letter to the CM and called the letter fake. Claiming that the BJP had created it, he sought a probe into the matter.

In the Karnataka Assembly polls which took place in May, the Indian National Congress bagged 135 seats in the 224-member Karnataka Legislative Assembly in a landslide victory. Soon after, Siddaramaiah took over as the new CM of the state.
